In front of The Cutty Sark at Greenwich, London

My mate Tom loved this Brompton bike. He used to go on about it but I didn’t pay too much attention to his:

“Blah blah Brompton this, blah blah Brompton that.”

Tom passed away a couple of years ago and his partner (my mother-in-law, Nanny Gill) recently gave it to me. She just knew.

I love its lightness, and ease of carrying, plus it is great fun to ride.

Much that I missed my electric bike’s boost button on Greenwich Hill today, it wasn’t as much as I missed my mate Tom.

I’ve definitely become a blah blah Brompton.

Pay attention to the small, foldable things in life.

Below is a Random Dialogue I made with Tom a few years ago. We can’t find a pic of Tom on his bike at mo.

Highly recommend this, if you are looking for a short, flat and nature full South London cycling idea.

I wondered what the River Wandle trail would be like, as I’d never heard of it, have you?

Nanny Gill knew.

We didn’t cycle from the start in Croydon nor quite end at Wandsworth.

Our first short pedal was from Streatham to Merton Abbey Mills for breakfast.

Then a nose at a noisy Morden Park Hall.

Followed by a soothing meander alongside the scenic river for a milkshake at Beddington Park.

In total, we traveled about 12km before heading home from platform 1 at Hackbridge station to Mitcham Eastfields, because the train didn’t stop at Streatham Hill.

Nanny now sleeping.

More pics here.

Where’s your next mini adventure?

It was 2018 when I met Dot Bekker and 30-year-old Bluebelle. They were parked in a layby next to Putney Bridge and just about to travel back home to Zimbabwe.

The crossing was 20.000 km through 20 countries and Dot was on her own.

Below is a little video I made on the day we met in the layby-
